Eat in or out, Lakeside Café serves locally sourced produce, enjoy mouth-watering cakes and a superb range of light lunches. Treat yourself to a cup of hot chocolate with all of the extras or on sunnier days, enjoy a scoop or two of our fantastic local ice-cream. Pop into the visitor centre and uncover the fascinating history of Roadford Lake, children love our interactive learning displays.

Roadford Lake offers an excellent day out in Devon, there’s plenty of fun and free things to do. Create funny photos with your family or friends at the sundial, discover our cob shelter, spot a range of wildlife from our hides, whizz through our off-road cycle trail or simply relax and enjoy the spectacular views.

Throughout our closed periods booked sessions are available by arrangement 7 days a week. We always recommend calling in advance to check the weather conditions and equipment / session availability, although hire and launch is normally available every day in which we are open.

Saturday Clubs for 6-16yr olds:

Beginner Sailing (RYA Stages 1-2, 8-16yr olds): 10am – 12pm, all year round

Advanced Sailing (RYA Stage 3 and upwards, 8-16yr olds): 1pm – 3 pm, all year round

Oppi Club (beginner sailing for 6-8yr olds): 10am – 12pm, between 13 June and 26 September

Windsurfing Club (all abilities, 8-16 yr olds): 1pm-3pm, between 13 June and August

Videos

Roadford Lake was built 1989 and is home to an endangered species, the Hazel Dormouse. Evidence suggests that dormice were present at Roadford pre-1989 before the valley was flooded. South West Lakes Trust have been carrying out dormouse surveys since 2005 which have revealed that the Roadford Local Nature Reserve hosts a healthy population of Hazel Dormouse
