Roadford Lake Open Day



On Sunday 28 May Westcountry charity South West Lakes Trust will be holding an Open Day at Roadford Lake, near Launceston.

The Open Day, which will run from 10.00am – 4.00pm, will include a variety of local stall holders and activities for the whole family to enjoy. Have a go at a range of activities including, kayaking, canoeing, paddleboarding, water zorbing, high ropes, archery, bushcraft and fishing taster sessions. Face painting will also be available as well as giant games, a bouncy castle, arts and crafts and much more!

South West Water will be running tours of the dam and there will also be the opportunity to take part in ‘Music Mash’ – an all-day drum and music session using instruments from around the world. Screech Owl Sanctuary will also be at the event with three of their beautiful owls.

Please note: For tours of the dam there is a minimum age restriction of 12 years and visitors need to be fit and well due to the 170 steps to be climbed. Shoes with a good grip are also recommended – fashion shoes, sandals and ‘open’ shoes are not suitable.

Visitors to the site can explore the lake by bike or foot and visit the striking 6m Jubilee Sundial, a unique gift to Her Majesty the Queen from the people of Devon commemorating six decades of Her Majesty’s reign.
