Glorious Weather for the Stithians Lake Open Day

Beautiful sunshine and a moderate breeze provided the perfect conditions for this year’s Open Day at Stithians Lake. Families flocked to the site on Sunday 12 May to take part in a variety of activities both on and off the water, including paddleboarding, sailing, windsurfing, kayaking, canoeing and fishing.

Pirate-themed face painting, provided by the talented Delia from Funny Faces, proved extremely popular with the young scallywags, with many carrying on their voyage in the pirate-themed play area.

And the pirate-theme continued with boat trips, complete with a Jolly Roger flag and pirate hats for all shipmates, as well as piratical antics from the fantastic Rob Pudner from Entertainingly Different.

Visitors were also given the opportunity to get creative in the countryside area, with clay modelling, pebble art and wooden medallion decorating on offer. Pond dipping was also on offer with even some small fish being netted.

An Open Day attendee said “Thank you to the instructors today – we had a great time paddle boarding and kayaking. The instructors were helpful, supportive and reassuring! We’ll be back. Weather helped too!”

Lark Bridge, Chief Instructor at Stithians Lake, said “Thank you to all those who came along to our Open Day and helped to make it such a huge success. It was great to see so many people out on the water, enjoying the activities we have to offer here at Stithians Lake”.

South West Lake’s next Open Day will be taking place at Roadford Lake, near Launceston, on Sunday 26 May. The Open Day, which will run from 10.00am – 4.00pm, will include a variety of local exhibitors and activities for the whole family to enjoy. For more information email or call 01566 771930.
