Another Great Open Day at Wimbleball Lake

On Sunday 9 June we held our annual Open Day at Wimbleball Lake, on Exmoor. People of all ages congregated at the lake to take part in a variety of activities, both on and off the water, including; canoeing, kayaking, rowing, windsurfing, paddleboarding, archery, high ropes and roller zorbing.

For the little ones there was also face painting by Anna Fraser, a bouncy castle and assault course, marshmallow toasting and countryside activities as well as an all-day music session provided by the fantastic ‘Junk Orchestra and piratical antics from Entertainingly Different’s Rob Pudner.

Local stall holders were kept busy throughout the day with a steady stream of visitors and there was also the chance to get up close to some of ‘North Devon Hawk Walks’ magnificent birds of prey and Exmoor Zoo’s resident critters.

The onsite Café, Coffee Couture, were also kept busy serving some of their renowned delicious treats, including mouth-watering fish and chips!

For the 4 legged visitors there was a dog show, organised by Wild Walks, and a fantastic gun dog display by Dee Hardy from Townsend Farm Gundogs.

Luke Hoather, Centre Manager at Wimbleball Lake, said ‘Despite the unpredictable weather forecast, we were blessed with sunshine for the majority of the day. It was great to see people of all ages and abilities enjoying what Wimbleball has to offer. I would like to say a big thank you to the South West Lakes team, Tiverton Sea Cadets, the Exmoor Rotary Club, Exmoor Canoe Club and Coffee Couture for helping to make the day such a success. We look forward to next year’s event!’
