SW Lakes Launch Members

Statement on recreational boating during England lockdown 5.11.20.

Thank you for your continued support and patience with us during this especially confusing and difficult time.

As of today all our activity centres and campsites have been forced to close in line with the latest lockdown rules. It is our current understanding that as SW Lakes sites are open to the public and in line with our charitable aims fulfilling our purposes around public access to outdoor spaces we are pleased to announce that we can allow our members to launch and continue to enjoy their chosen sport providing that all comply with the new Covid-19 rules. This launching will need to be on a strict buddy system basis only.

You will need to continue to adhere to member protocol and in particular we will require you to

  • Maintain safe and recommended social distance
  • Visit only in your household or support bubble or with one other individual
  • Bring your own hand sanitiser

You will appreciate that this is an ever changing situation and if further guidance contradicts our understanding we may need to revise access arrangements.

If you have any questions about this, please do not hesitate to get in touch. You will appreciate that this is an ever changing situation and if further guidance contradicts our understanding we may need to revise access arrangements.

Prior to every watersports trip, it is essential that you check the information on this page to ensure that you are up to date with relevant site information, rules and regulations.

Safeguarding our visitors and team of employees is our priority and therefore we have certain measures in place to limit the spread of coronavirus and maintain the safety of everyone.

Whilst open, we must maintain social distancing and hygiene standards to a level that we feel minimises the risk of spreading coronavirus. If at any point we have concerns that visitor numbers or public behaviour are restricting our ability to do this, we reserve the right to close particular lakes or facilities without prior notice.

If you have a new, persistent cough, temperature or any other reason to suspect you may have coronavirus, please do not visit and help save lives.

The following are our overarching instructions for all visitors, below this you will find further details on our code of conduct for going afloat.

  1. Please respect our team; they are doing their best to keep you safe during your visit.
  2. Please follow all instructions given on posters around site, including the NHS test and trace QR coded poster.
  3. Social distancing; please maintain appropriate social distance between yourself and others at all times, lakes will be open from sunrise to sunset to help you maintain this.
  4. Please wash your hands in line with government guidance, as often as possible. Where no facilities exist please use personal hand sanitiser
  5. All dogs must be kept on leads at all times. Please do not allow dogs to jump up at people, please take your dog waste home.
  6. Pay and Display parking machines will be cleaned as often as possible; we advise that you use personal hand sanitiser after use or consider joining us as a Friend of SW Lakes, or the RingGo app.
  7. Access to the water is only permitted via our activity centres or an approved club. Swimming is not permitted in any water
